Security and Safety Procedures and Policies for Heritage Green Community Church (an affiliate of CBOQ)

Overview It is important for churches to be prepared for a variety of threats, emergencies, and security. Through these policies we can be ready to quickly respond, provide a safe and secure environment, and allow everyone to have a sense of security. These guidelines will inform the church body giving them a general awareness of our security and safety procedures as well as prepare them to respond if necessary.

Security for working with children and minors

We require all staff and volunteers to undergo and present to us a complete police check from the Hamilton/Wentworth Police Service. These clearances are kept on file within the church.

Plan to Protect

We have in place a comprehensive operations manual for procedures to protect our children. It was developed along with the Christian Education committee members following "Plan to Protect" guidelines. A copy can be obtained from the church upon request.

Door Policies

All classroom and meeting room doors are equipped with a security window.

Alarm System

Our church is protected with a state of the art monitoring and alarm system, in addition, the property, inside and out is monitored by security cameras. Several members have access to the security camera system 24/7. A comprehensive list of all persons holding a key to the building is kept up to date. Persons are asked for a monetary deposit upon issue of a key which is numbered and the deposit is returned upon return of the key.

Personal Information

We collect email, physical location addresses, personal and mobile telephone numbers for the sole purpose of church business only and some advertising for church related events. Under no circumstances are these numbers published or sold to a third party.
